A visible starting point for your Codex project

Website templates for OpenAI Codex. Build your own website by asking Codex to make changes to a ready-made design.

Choose an existing frontend, tell Codex what should change and inspect the result. This workflow uses project files; it does not assume every ChatGPT interface can edit the same folder.

Sample designs · replace the fictional content with your own.

AI ChatWorkflow example
OpenAI Codex · Website project folder
You

Read index.html, RECREATE.md and the assets in this folder. Tell me where the headline, images and contact links are before editing.

AI · example response

I will inspect the files and list the sections, image paths and links. I will also identify any form that only demonstrates an action.

You

Use the existing HTML. My business copy and images are in the materials folder.

AI · example response

I will match those materials to the existing sections and ask about missing content rather than invent it.

Steps to take

  1. Open the folder

Unzip the project and give the agent access to it.

  2. Inspect the page

Read the HTML and instructions before replacing content.

  3. Add your materials

Supply your copy, images and actual contact destination.

Result to aim for: the agent works on your actual website files.

01 / The source project

What does Codex work from?

The delivered HTML and its design guide, in a project folder Codex can access. Morrow is a movement-studio presentation; its class presentation and controls are frontend examples, not booking software.

Website files + design instructions

index.html

Use the supplied frontend for direct content and design changes.

RECREATE.md

Use the guide as a reference or a separate reconstruction target.

Preserve a baseline

Save the untouched package and a version checkpoint before editing.

What the original instructions specify

07-morrow/RECREATE.md · L5

The guide describes the original fictional page. Keep its role separate from the changes you want for your own business.

Build an English movement-studio demonstration as `index.html` plus `assets/favicon.svg` and six local PNG copies listed in section 9. Put all CSS and vanilla JavaScript in the HTML; use no framework, bundler, build step, external JavaScript or library. Reproduce the structure, copy, proportions, palette, image placement and behavior specified here. Keep native browser scrolling and native HTML dialogs.

02 / Your task

How do I keep the request specific?

Tell Codex exactly what to replace and what to keep. For example: use my company name, paste these service descriptions, link the button to my booking page, and keep the layout. This lets you customise the site without asking it to redesign everything.

AI editing exampleFormwell
You

Adapt Formwell for the fictional Alder brand studio. Change the name, hero headline and introduction. Keep the layout and sample project artwork.

AI · example response

The prepared preview replaces the company name, hero headline and introduction. Compare the Content and Original tabs to see those edits; the other project images remain sample content.

Your own working plan

Write your own facts. Copy or export this local plan; nothing is sent and it does not configure an AI tool or publish a website.

03 / Codex access

Which OpenAI Codex workflow does this mean?

The documented starting point is Codex CLI in a local project. Other Codex and ChatGPT surfaces have their own file-access, permissions and preview methods.

Is this WordPress Codex?

No. This page concerns OpenAI Codex as coding tooling, not the WordPress documentation named Codex.

Is Codex included with the template?

No. Check current OpenAI account and usage requirements separately.

AI ChatWorkflow example
OpenAI Codex · Keep and restore a website version
You

Before editing, save this approved website version. Set up a Git checkpoint if available and keep my original ZIP unchanged.

AI · example response

I will confirm where the saved version is before applying the next change.

You

I prefer the previous layout. Restore it, but keep the new contact email.

AI · example response

I will compare the versions, restore the previous layout and check that the contact email remains the one you requested.

Steps to take

  1. Save before editing

Keep the original ZIP and an approved folder or Git version.

  2. Name what to restore

Tell the AI which version and which elements should return.

  3. Check the restored page

Open it and verify content, layout and contact links.

Result to aim for: a deliberate return to the version you prefer.
Illustrative workflow. No live AI connection.

04 / Later changes

Can I keep changing the website later?

Yes. Keep the website folder, open it again in Codex and describe the next change: add a service, replace a photo or update your prices. Ask it to save a copy or Git version first so you can return to the previous design.

  1. 01

    Describe the next result

Specify the exact heading, section or visitor action to revise.

  2. 02

    Inspect and keep

Read the diff, open the page and keep the version only after review.

AI ChatWorkflow example
OpenAI Codex · Connect the booking button
You

Link the class booking buttons to my existing booking page. I supplied the real URL; keep the class descriptions.

AI · example response

I will replace the sample destinations with that URL and check each button. The booking provider will handle the actual reservation.

You

After publishing, help me make a test booking and confirm it appears in my booking account.

Steps to take

  1. Use your booking service

Supply its actual booking URL or documented embed.

  2. Connect the buttons

Ask the agent to replace the sample links without inventing a booking system.

  3. Try a reservation

Follow the link and verify the result in the provider account.

Result to aim for: visitors book through your existing service.
Illustrative workflow. No live AI connection.

05 / Page and services

Does the new page include live booking?

The template shows classes and booking buttons, but it does not provide a booking system. Give Codex your booking-service URL to connect the buttons, or ask it to embed the service using that provider’s instructions. Then make a test booking.

Checked locally on this device; nothing is submitted.
